Baking a Christmas Cake: Reviewing Annilu Mixes Fruit Cake Mix

A few weeks ago I made one of my favourite cakes, a Christmas Cake. The truth is it’s actually called a fruit cake or a black cake or a rum cake… what ever you want to call it.

It’s a nice rich cake made out of fruits and usually lots of alcohol. Recently I started baking but feel absolutely intimidated by making a fruit cake if you want a more in depth post about a fruit cake and how to make it from scratch I suggest you read this blog by A YouNique Journey a Jamaican blog with Jamaican recipes.

While scrolling through Tiktok I came across themonasimone’s video where she used Annilu’s Fruit Cake mix and I just HAD TO TRY IT.

This meant I could make my favourite cake without all the hassle of soaking fruits and blending them… and it also meant I was less likely to mess it up like I did this cake I made from scratch.

I made a tiktok video with all the steps I used to make this delicious cake and I loved it!

I really enjoyed this cake- and so did the others in my home. In fact it lasted about two days and I had to fight for the last piece.

Generally I like my cake to be more pudding like but on the box they actually give a pudding version (which I haven’t tried).

The cake is light, not too sweet and has a rich flavour. I’m not sure if they have alcohol in the cake to be honest and I’m thinking that the next time I make it I will be soaking it with some rum… maybe white- what you think?

All in all if any one has the contact for Annilu tell them I am obsessed and I would love for them to sponsor me T_T !

Let me know if you try this- I think you should! You can find Annilu Mixes in supermarkets and online, check out their IG.

Merry Christmas!

Samantha
